Chicago Fire FC beat Cruz Azul 2-1 on Thursday, August 13, at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, in their final Leagues Cup group-stage match. Winger Puso Dithejane scored a second-half brace to lift Chicago past the reigning Liga MX champions, in front of a crowd of over 18,000 that was overwhelmingly pro-Cruz Azul. The game was tied through most of regulation before Dithejane netted the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.
